Sort List

Sort a linked list in O(n log n) time using constant space complexity.

Search Insert Position

Given a sorted array and a target value, return the index if the target is found. If not, return the index where it would be if it were inserted in order.

You may assume no duplicates in the array.

Here are few examples.

Search a 2D Matrix

Write an efficient algorithm that searches for a value in an m x n matrix. This matrix has the following properties:

Integers in each row are sorted from left to right. The first integer of each row is greater than the last integer of the previous row.

Example

Consider the following matrix:

  [10, 11, 16, 20],
  [23, 30, 34, 50]
]

Given target = 3, return true.

Partition List

Given a linked list and a value x, partition it such that all nodes less than x come before nodes greater than or equal to x.

You should preserve the original relative order of the nodes in each of the two partitions.

Example

Given 1->4->3->2->5->2 and x = 3,

return 1->2->2->4->3->5.

Delete Node in a Linked List

Write a function to delete a node (except the tail) in a singly linked list, given only access to that node.

Supposed the linked list is 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 and you are given the third node with value 3, the linked list should become 1 -> 2 -> 4 after calling your function.

Counting Bits

Given a non negative integer number num. For every numbers i in the range 0 ≤ i ≤ num calculate the number of 1’s in their binary representation and return them as an array.

Example:

For num = 5 you should return [0,1,1,2,1,2].

Follow up:

  • It is very easy to come up with a solution with run time O(n * sizeof(integer)). But can you do it in linear time O(n) /possibly in a single pass?

  • Space complexity should be O(n). Can you do it like a boss? Do it without using any builtin function in c++ or in any other language.

Hint:

  • You should make use of what you have produced already.
  • Divide the numbers in ranges like [2-3], [4-7], [8-15] and so on. And try to generate new range from previous.
  • Does the odd/even status of the number help you in calculating the number of 1s?

Add Digits

Given a non-negative integer num, repeatedly add all its digits until the result has only one digit.

For example:

Given num = 38, the process is like: 3 + 8 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2. Since 2 has only one digit, return it.

Follow up:

Could you do it without any loop/recursion in O(1) runtime?

Hint:

  • A naive implementation of the above process is trivial. Could you come up with other methods?
  • What are all the possible results?
  • How do they occur, periodically or randomly?
  • You may find this Wikipedia article useful.

Sum of Two Integers

Calculate the sum of two integers a and b, but you are not allowed to use the operator + and -.

Example:

Given a = 1 and b = 2, return 3.

Container With Most Water

Given n non-negative integers a1, a2, …, an, where each represents a point at coordinate (i, ai). n vertical lines are drawn such that the two endpoints of line i is at (i, ai) and (i, 0). Find two lines, which together with x-axis forms a container, such that the container contains the most water.

Note:

You may not slant the container.

Single Number 2

Given an array of integers, every element appears three times except for one. Find that single one.

Note:

Your algorithm should have a linear runtime complexity. Could you implement it without using extra memory?
